The Department of Control and Systems Engineering holds an awareness workshop entitled "Drugs and their negative effects on humans and society"

The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit in the Department of Control and Systems Engineering organized an awareness workshop entitled "Drugs and their Negative Effects on Humans and Society" on Wednesday, 4/12/2024. The workshop was presented by Dr. Alia Abdul-Ridha Abbas, a lecturer in the department, and Assistant Director Sajida Abdul-Ridha Thabet from the Ministry of Health / Health Insurance Authority. The workshop addressed the concept of drugs from the social and health perspectives, and discussed the factors and causes leading to drug abuse and smuggling. In conclusion, the workshop included a set of recommendations that emphasized the government’s role in securing borders and preventing the entry of drugs to eliminate the spread of this phenomenon. The recommendations also stressed the importance of the family’s role in raising their children, and the role of educational institutions in spreading awareness through educational seminars. In addition, the role of tribes in promoting the values of cooperation and social responsibility was highlighted, due to their great impact on the individual and society.

The Control and Systems Engineering Department organized a workshop on the topic of sustainability and its importance in achieving a balance between meeting the needs of the present and ensuring the rights of future generations. The workshop focused on explaining the concept of sustainability and its 17 goals, which include eradicating poverty, providing quality education, promoting gender equality, and protecting the environment. The workshop also addressed ways to achieve sustainability through cooperation between governments, the private sector, and civil society. The lecturers stressed the importance of adopting environmentally friendly practices, developing supportive policies, and enhancing community awareness to achieve these goals. The workshop was presented by (Lect. Faten Fouad) and (Asst. Lect. Maha Youssef) in the Computer Control Lab at 10:30 am. These workshops aim to spread awareness of the importance of sustainability and encourage participants to adopt practical initiatives that contribute to achieving sustainable development goals locally and globally.

The Control and Systems Engineering Department held an election for the representative of the Academics Syndicate in the presence of the head of the department, members of the department council, and faculty members. In this election, Lect. Dr. Mohammad Nouri Redha was re-elected as the representative of the Syndicate within the department by a majority of votes. Dr. Ali Jalal attended as a representative of the Syndicate to monitor the election process. We congratulate Lect. Dr. Mohammad on the renewal of confidence to be the voice of the faculty in the department.
