  Discussion of the doctoral dissertation in the Department of Control and Systems Engineering of a student (Jinan Jabbar Abdul Kareem)

 

 The department of control and systems engineering awards a PhD in control engineering. The discussion was held for the doctoral student (Jinan Jabbar Abdul Kareem) from Control Engineering at the University of Technology / Department of Control and Systems Engineering on her research entitled (An Adaptive Intelligent H-Infinty Controller Design for Nonlinear Dynamical Systems) on Monday 14/10/2024 in the discussion hall (Hall NO.9). The discussion committee consisted of: 1- Prof. Dr. Azad Raheem Kareem / Chairman. 2- Asst. Prof. Dr. Firas Abdulrazzaq Raheem / Member. 3- Asst. Prof. Dr. Baraa Munqith Abdul Jabbar / Member. 4- Asst. Prof. Dr. Zakir Mahmoud Nayel / Member. 5- Asst. Prof. Dr. Yaser Nabeel Ibrahem / Member. 6- Prof. Dr. Hazem Ibrahim Ali / Member and Supervisor. 7- Prof. Dr. Omar Farouq Lutfy / Member and Supervisor. In recent years, the challenges associated with nonlinear controlling systems have increased significantly as these systems are characterized by their complex performance. Nonlinear systems need advanced control strategies capable of dealing with these complexities to ensure their stability and high performance. Hence, the importance of developing intelligent and robust controllers that benefit from modern technologies such as wavelet neural networks and Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) has emerged to achieve the required performance in various operational conditions. This work focuses on the challenges in predicting and regulating nonlinear systems with an emphasis on the importance of robust control systems in modern control theory. The motivation behind this work is the growing interest in developing controllers that ensure the stability and reliable performance of closed-loop systems. In this work, an intelligent and robust control strategy based on wavelet neural networks (WNN) and an H-infinity controller is proposed to address the difficulties of nonlinear systems. The thesis introduces an integrated framework for forward-backward control to manage nonlinear dynamic systems. The obtained results demonstrated that the proposed MRWNN controller outperforms MLP and PID controllers, achieving excellent control results in terms of reliability and stability.
