Childhood Investment Forum held in the University of Technology

On Monday 6/9/2021, The University of Technology hosted a children’s festival in cooperation amongst the Department of Control and Systems Engineering, the Training & Factories Centre, and the Iraqi volunteer team “Iraqiya Here”. The festival was meant for the children of needy families and orphans in the Iraqi Child Orphanage and came under the patronage and presence of the President of the University, Prof Ahmed Al-Ghabban. the festival is among the humanitarian activities for the service of our dear community and it included various segments, such as a visit to the university workshops, laboratories, and the robotics research unit in the Department of Control and Systems Engineering to get acquainted with the scientific activities of the university and its students. The festival also included scientific and entertainment competitions, targeted video shows, gifts and lunch. the University of Technology is keen to be close to all segments of society and provide a humanitarian service to them in addition to the scientific service it provides, and this festival is not the first, as it was preceded by many activities in previous years targeting orphaned and destitute children and children with cancer, as well as gifted children to achieve a goal which is to draw the attention of school students and children to university and university life so that their goal is to enroll to gain knowledge, serve their country, and not think about leaving school seats, because this is a great loss for our dear society. The university wishes all the sons of Iraq success and excellence in their studies and their lives.

A Masters’ Viva

on Sunday, 22/8/2021, at Hall No. 9 in the Department of Control and Systems Engineering, the master's thesis of student (Ali Hassan Mahmoud) with a major in (Control Engineering) was discussed. It was entitled:

(Optimal Multi –objective H-Infinity Model Reference Controller Design)

The discussion committee consisted of:

1- Prof. Dr. Shibli Ahmed Hamid / Head.

2- Assist. Prof. Dr. Omar Walid Abdel Wahab / Member.

3- Assist. Prof. Dr. Saffana Mudhir Raafat / Member.

4- Prof. Dr. Hazem Ibrahim Ali / member and supervisor.

Control system robustness is a major concern in modern control theory as there is a growing interest in designing robust and efficient control units that provide reliable performance and stability characteristics for closed-loop systems in the face of disturbances. H-Infinity Control theory is a popular and interesting approach in the field of robust control because of its ease of formulation and novelty compared to other robust control methods. In this thesis, three

Inventive Women of the University of Technology are Still Giving

The festival to celebrate the university’s graduates under the auspices of the Honourable President of the University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Ghabban and under the supervision of the Department of Control and Systems Engineering and the support of the Office of Scientific and Engineering Consultations, the team ((Al-Iraqiya Here)) held a festival under the title

(Inventive Women of the University of Technology are Still Giving)

on the university campus on Wednesday 7/7/2021. the aim of the festival is to shed light on the graduates of the University of Technology who have a creative imprint in their work or community service. Adviser to the President of the Republic and a large number of deans and teachers of the university’s faculties attended the festival. during his speech, the President of the University praised the graduates and their great sacrifice in serving the country, and that the festival is a simple thing that the university offers them. Every woman in Iraq is a symbol of giving. It is noteworthy that the festival was organized by the Iraqi blog and team Al-Iraqiya Here, which is one of the most important blogs in Iraq for creative women in all fields. The team members are from the Department of Control and Systems Engineering At the end of the festival, the distinguished graduates were honoured with the necklace of giving by the president of the university and the chancellor. Among the honourees from the Department of Control and Systems Engineering were female engineers (Rasha Basil, Zahra Hazem, and Raghad Matti) for their excellence in the service of work and society.

Master’s Viva

The master's thesis of a postgraduate student (Amira Kazem Jabbar), in the major of (Computer Engineering), was discussed on Tuesday 5/5/2021 at Hall No. 9 in the Department of Control and Systems Engineering, for her research entitled:

(Information Security Management for Electronic Healthcare System)

The discussion committee consisted of:

1 Assist. Prof. Dr. Abbas Hussein Meri / Chairman.

2- Assist. Prof. Dr. Ikhlas Kazem Hamza / Member.

3- Lect. Dr. Ahmed Raouf Nasser / Member.

4A. Prof. Dr. Ashwaq Talib Hashem / Member and Supervisor.

5- Lect. Dr. Qusay Fadel Hassan / Member and Supervisor.

Medical images are transferred to other remote locations through the electronic health care system. Protecting medical images is extremely important. Medical images must be protected from any modification that the attacker may make through the insecure channel. It is necessary to check the integrity of the ROI (area of interest) of the received medical image. Before adopting any diagnostic decision to avoid misdiagnosis, the goal of this thesis is to confirm the integrity, reliability and confidentiality of medical images by combining watermark and coding techniques and the proposed strong segmentation method for JPEG compression. Likewise, this method resists many image processing attacks such as filtering, noise addition and some engineering transformations. The experimental results demonstrate the robustness of the watermark against many aggressive and geometric signal processing distortions. The discussion was attended by the Deputy Head of the Department for Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies (Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yusuf Hassan). On this occasion, we congratulate the student (Amira Kazem Jabbar) and wish her continued success.

Master’s Viva

The master's thesis was presented by a postgraduate student (Areej Manadel Kadhim) in the major of (Computer Engineering) on Monday, 5/3/2021 at Hall No. 9 in the Department of Control and Systems Engineering, for her research entitled:

(Implementation of Transceiver for Cognitive Radio Based Wireless Network)

The discussion committee consisted of:

1- Assist. Prof. Dr. Azad Rahim Karim / Chairman.

2 Assist. Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Zaki Abdullah / Member.

3- Lect. Dr. Ali Majeed Mahmoud / Member.

4- Assist. Prof. Dr. Ikhlas Kazem Hamza / Member and Supervisor.

Wireless communication is witnessing a great development and growth, which raises the level of demand for radio spectrum. Nevertheless, spectrum is a limited resource that cannot be divided indefinitely to meet any application. The scarcity of spectrum arose as this scarcity represented the main problem facing the future of wireless networks. Three phases The OFDM transmitter and receiver system was implemented in the first phase using QPSK modulation technology using Simulink Xilinx / MATLAB. The second phase of the proposal is to discover the design capacity of the OFDM transmitter and receiver. This system was analysed in the XSG framework based on the AWGN channel, in the end another system works on Improving the performance of spectrum sensing based on pd, pf and SNR energy detection. The discussion was attended by the Deputy Head of the Department for Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies (Prof. Dr. Muhammad Yusuf Hassan), and on this occasion we congratulate the student (Areej Muadid Kadhim) and wish her continued success.
